2008 Letter Drive Donations (as of 5/2/08): $18,385.00

GRANT AWARDED TO THE BROSVILLE VFD!!
The Brosville Community Volunteer Fire Department was notified January 3, 2007 of a grant being awarded to us from the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund Grant (Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services).  We were awarded $104,000.00 to go towards the purchase of a new Medium Duty Crash Truck.  We were also awarded $2120.00 to purchase an automated external defibrillator and a suction unit to go on the truck.  The truck will replace the department’s current light duty crash truck (F379).  We will still need to raise funds to assist with the department’s portion of the new crash truck.

The Brosville Community Volunteer Fire Department still has no missed calls for 2008!

FUNDRAISERS

Thank you to everyone who supported our department in 2007 and made each of our fundraisers successful.

Here is a synopsis of our 2007 fundraising efforts: the letter drive and business letter drive brought in $22,000.00 (a department record!!); the proceeds from the letter drive, golf tournament, pancake breakfasts and other special donations allowed us to pay over $35,000.00 on our construction loan this year (only $78,000.00 to go!!).

We are in critical need of donations for our construction loan and general operations.  In 2007 our department responded to 710 calls.  Our members work and train hard and interrupt our busy lives to ensure we can provide our much needed VOLUNTEER services to our community.  Our day-to-day operations are costly, so please help us help you.

Pancake Breakfast:

The following pancake breakfasts will be held at our station in 2008: June 21; October 18; December 6 (6AM - 11AM).  Come out to our station to meet some of our members, tour the building, grounds and apparatus and eat some EXCELLENT food.  The breakfast includes the following: scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, orange juice and coffee.  The cost is $6.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 12 and under.  Remember to buy some stew for dinner before you leave!

Golf Tournament:

Our second annual Golf Tournament will be held Thursday May 22, 2008 at Rays Creek Country Club (formerly Glen Oak Country Club) starting at 1:00pm.

Fish Fry:

We will have Fish Fry Suppers at our station on May 10th and August 30th (5PM - 8PM).  Supper includes: Fish, Baked Beans, French Fries, Hush Puppies, Potato Salad or Cole Slaw, Desert and a Drink. Cost is $ 8.00 per plate with a child’s plate of chicken tenders available for $ 4.00. Funds will be used for the daily operations of the department.

Gospel Singing:

This will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church (58W, approximately 2 miles West of our station) September 20th at 6PM

Steak Supper:

This will be held at our station on September 27th (5PM - 8PM).

Stew:

We will be cooking two Brunswick Stews this year at our station: October 18th and December 6th (ready for pick up at 9AM).  There will be pancake breakfasts at our station on both of these dates.

Letter Drive:

Our Letter Drive fundraiser is currently underway.  Residents and property owners of our primary Fire and EMS district will be receiving these letters.  All of the proceeds from the letter drive will go towards paying on our building.  Please help spread the word to your friends and neighbors to contribute.  If you did not receive a letter, please let us know.

Additional updates will be posted closer to each event.

Please continue to support our department.  We are still raising money for our general operations and building fund.  Any/all donations are greatly appreciated.

If you have any fund raising ideas for our department, or if you would like to help us with our fund raising projects, PLEASE contact us at your earliest convenience.
